Creating Conversation

Have you ever wondered about the power of conversation?  Just starting a conversation isn’t always easy to do. Can you imagine what it’d be like to have a continuous ongoing talk with people who have similar interests and life goals?  Here is where we can converse and talk about what it’s like being in the turf industry.  I want to get to know YOU!  Everyone has a beginning of a story and a dream to fulfill; a part of our life journey waiting to be told.

When I was in college I had a hard time envisioning where I’d be in 5 years, let alone 1 year.  However, I knew I always wanted to work in the horticulture industry.  It wasn’t until a few years later I first landed a position at a local golf course.  My first year I fell in love with the golf course, I loved everything about my job.  From that point on I knew I wanted to become a Superintendent.  I wasn’t a golfer in the beginning, I actually made fun of people who golfed, probably because I had no idea what the game was about.  But as I worked on the course I watched how people golfed, so I basically picked up the idea of what to do.  I was really discouraged that it wasn’t easy, but I kept at it and practiced whenever I could.   I currently play on a ladies league and I have a blast!  I know I will never become a professional golfer, but I aim to become one of the Elite Superintendents, so knowing how to golf just comes with the territory.

Sharing our stories is a great way to open up for discussions.  Follow me on twitter @WomeninTurf this is a great way to get interactive with me.  I look forward to hearing your story of how you got interested in being in the turf industry.

Use the hashtag #womeninturf when you share on twitter or photos on instagram.  Leave a comment or question and I will answer them as best I can.  Have an awesome week!!
