Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller, one of the biggest names in football, has joined forces with the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) and Pennington Grass Seed to promote the use of natural grass playing surfaces in football.

In a new commercial that was reportedly rejected by a network for the NFL draft, Miller argues that playing on artificial turf can cause injury and pain for players. “Until turf is off the field, draft day will always be painful,” he says.

The commercial is part of a larger campaign by the NFLPA to promote the use of natural grass playing surfaces, which the organization argues are safer for players than artificial turf. According to the NFLPA, players who play on artificial turf are more likely to suffer from injuries such as concussions, ACL tears, and ankle sprains.

“Playing on natural grass is not only safer, but it also provides a better playing surface for athletes,” said DeMaurice Smith, the executive director of the NFLPA. “We are proud to have Von Miller join us in this important campaign, and we hope that more players and fans will recognize the benefits of playing on natural grass.”

Pennington Grass Seed, which specializes in natural grass seed, has been a key partner in the campaign. The company has worked with numerous NFL teams to install natural grass playing surfaces, and has been a vocal advocate for the benefits of natural grass over artificial turf.

“We are thrilled to have Von Miller join us in promoting the use of natural grass in football,” said John Gertz, the president of Pennington Grass Seed. “Natural grass not only helps reduce the risk of injuries, but it also provides a more enjoyable playing experience for athletes and fans alike.”

The NFLPA’s campaign comes at a time when there is growing concern over the safety of artificial turf in football. In recent years, several high-profile players, including San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, have suffered injuries on artificial turf playing surfaces.

With the help of players like Von Miller and companies like Pennington Grass Seed, the NFLPA is hoping to shift the conversation in favor of natural grass playing surfaces, and help make football a safer sport for everyone involved.
